The official seat of the Plovdiv Eparchy, the Holy Mother of God Church is the first thing you’ll see if you enter the Old Town from the side of the Main Street. Built in 1844, with intricate iconostases, hand-carved by artists from the School of Debar, and icons made by the painter Nikola of Odrin, it is an example of Bulgarian National Revival art and architecture.
