Over 4 billion BGN have been invested in the industrial zone near Plovdiv, from 2011 until now, according to economic analyzes. It is mainly about invested foreign capital. The exceptionally good business climate has allowed the attraction of global companies like ABB, Kaufland, Schenker and many others, according to the industry analysts from Industry Watch, nine of the municipalities in the region work together to promote Trakia’s economic zone as a territory desirable for investors.

Vast areas were deserted until a few years ago on the outskirts of the city, but now new and modern factories are being built. Their activities are mainly in the sphere of logistics, automotive, manufacturing, light industry and IT sector. The thousands of jobs provided by Trakias economic zone are the reason why unemployment in Plovdiv is the lowest in the country - below 4%, with an average of 8% in Bulgaria. In order to earn their livelihood whole families from other parts of the country come to work here. More and more ethnic Bulgarians, who are from Moldova and Ukraine, start work in the enterprises of Plovdiv. Analysts say significant tax cuts, qualified staff and the appropriate infrastructure make Plovdiv a preferred business development destination.
