Nebet tepe will be a top attraction for the tourists in Plovdiv

A protective fence around the hill, terraces with panoramic views of other hills, artistic lighting, recreation areas and alleys leading to different ages. These are just some of the attractions to be unveiled at Nebet Tepe in Plovdiv. The emblematic place is known as the Acropolis of Philippopolis and has existed for 7000 years.

Here are found elements of prehistory, antiquity and medieval times. After the latest revelations are the foundations of two towers of the Roman epoch. The culture layers reach up to 12 meters depth. The walls will be restored to the levels that are preserved, archaeologists said on the site.

The idea of Plovdiv municipality is the area around Nebet Tepe to become a natural end of the tourist routes in the Old Town. For this purpose, a grant of 9 million BGN is currently being applied for under Operational Program “Regions in Growth”. Two-thirds of the sum will go to the restoration of the Acropolis. An information center for tourists is also planned.
