Rose Festival Kazanlak
The Rose Festival
Not one, not two, but fifty queens of rose will gather this year at the Kazanlak festival. The occasion is 50 years since the election of the first Rose Queen. All winners of the prize since 1968 have been searched and invited to the big show on May 18th. The performance will launch at this year’s Rose Valley Festival, which marks 118 years since its inception in 2018.
The holidays in the city will continue until June 1st. Guests and tourists will be able to participate in the picking of roses in six villages in the Kazanluk district - Rozovo, Gorno Cherkovishte, Kanchevo, Ruzhena, Gorno Izvorovo and Cherganovo. Visitors will also be able to observe the rosary process. The Rose Museum in the city has prepared a special exhibition with photos and old equipment showing the development of livelihood № 1 in this region of Bulgaria.
For the jubilee edition of the festival are expected many tourists from the country and abroad. The hotels in the region will be overcrowded, with the main stream again being guests from China and Japan. Asians are among the hottest fans of Bulgarian rose oil and perfumery and cosmetics from it. The management of one of the largest complexes in the region, Damascene, said that annually the glory of the rose carries nearly half a million visitors. Much of them are Chinese and Japanese.
