Plovdiv has unique natural features. The town is built on seven hills, along which the Maritza River bends. The cultural capital of Bulgaria is also famous for its unique ancient architectural pearls - the Ancient Theater (I century AD) built with white marble and the Roman stadium (II century AD).
An attractive site for pictures is the ancient Ottoman public buildings and the magnificent houses from the period of the Bulgarian Revival in the 18th-19th centuries. The city center and the Bohemian quarter of Kapana offer fine examples of Neo-Baroque and Neo-Gothic style. The parks are full of interesting trees, shrubs, and the color of the fountains.
