This two-day trek along the mountain of Pirin’s main ridge (also known as the Marble Ridge) crosses its most narrow part – the famous Foal knife-edge ridge, and continues with an ascent to the highest peak in these mountains – Mount Vihren (2914 m).

Description

Day 1

Meet up with your guide in the morning at the selected pick-up point. The hiking in Bulgaria starts with a 25 min ride to the starting point of the trek - Vihren Hut, at an altitude of 1950 m. The ascent to Mount Vihren takes 6 hours, +1000/-1000 m. Accommodation at Vihren Hut.

Day 2

We make an early start and trek via Mount Kutelo (2908 m), The Foal and further along the Marble Ridge. Descent to Yavorov Hut at an altitude of 1740 m. Total amount of walking throughout the day: 8-9 hours, +1200/-1400m. There are two accommodation options - overnight in the hut, or alternatively, we can make another 2-hour descent down to the asphalt road and take a ride back to Bansko (an additional -500 m descent).

Notes

Transfer from Sofia to Bansko and from Bansko to Sofia - 50 euro per person

This is a challenging trek, suitable for people who are not afraid of heights, are in very good physical condition, and have some hiking experience and proper equipment.

This mountain trek is suitable for groups of 6-12 people.

Required equipment: hiking boots, rucksack (35-45 l), trekking poles, water and windproof jacket, rain cover, sun hat, sun lotion, sunglasses, warm hat and gloves, water bottle (1,5 litres), travel liner (optional), torch, personal first aid kit.
